The aim of the competition is to give school pupils the opportunity to explore connections between the subjects they study or are interested in, to develop their independent research skills, and to encourage them to consider interdisciplinary courses at university. High School English Essay Competition 25th November 2013. Magdalen College is now accepting entries for its English Literature competition. Entrants must be in Year 12 (for the academic year 2013-14) and must be studying English. The deadline for entries is 5pm on Saturday 1st March 2014.

Horsham pupil wins Oxford University essay competition A Horsham pupil has been awarded first prize in a prestigious Oxford University essay competition. By Jasmin Martin. Andrew McLeod, who is a Year 12 pupil at Christ s Hospital School, won first prize in the philosophy category in the St John s College Classics and Ancient History Essay Competition SUS.

This competition has been set up in memory of the late Professor Jon Stallworthy (1935-2014), poet and Fellow of Wolfson College, and is open to any student currently enrolled in postgraduate studies at the University of Oxford. The funding for the prize has been provided by generous donations to the English Faculty and to Wolfson College.

In 2019, New College launched an Equality and Diversity Essay Competition, seeking to promote awareness of Equality and Diversity issues. The competition asks candidates to write a 2,000 word essay on their chosen question from the year's selected topic.
